Coming Out Day

Coming Out Day 2010 is Monday the 11th. I don't know how many people are actually gonna come out on Monday who aren't out already, but it's a nice idea. I think one of the gay groups at my school will have a booth and I might stop by. Or not. I've become pretty distant from those groups. As much as people group them together, lesbians don't always get along with gay guys. Were are complete and total opposites, and I think the gay men are the reason that a lot of Americans are against homosexuality. Granted I do believe we should all have equal rights, but when it comes down to it, I would gladly accept having equal rights and my gay brothers not. It's a step. Sometimes that's how it goes. You take baby steps.

You know I don't understand why parents wouldn't want their daughters to be gay. To me, it seems like that would be ideal over having a straight daughter. Your straight daughter could turn out to be a slut and get pounded daily starting in 7th grade. When she goes to college she could be labelled as the sluttiest girl on campus or the girl who gives the best head. And she's gonna demand all the most expensive clothes. Sororities aren't cheap either. And don't forget how many unmarried girls get pregant every day.

Now if you have a lesbian she is most likely going to be interested in sports (like you dad). And she wont get pregnant. Also, she's not going to worry about what all the boys think of her so she's not going to need all those expensive and slutty clothes. Many lesbians have a mind of their own and want to do well for themselves. They get scholarships and want to be doctors and engineers. Not teachers and nurses. Or undecided for 4 years.

Of course there are tons of straight woman who do our gender proud, but I know more sluts than achievers in the straight female gender. Sorry.

Face it, having a lesbian daughter would be awesome.

I know I got off topic but oh well. Come out on Monday. There.

Kava Hiatus

I'm afraid I am going to have to take my leave from kava. My natural reaction to it has become one of utter revulsion. I can't overcome it, and so I must say goodbye for now. Maybe one day I will return. I am very sad about this, as kava was a source of normality and calm for me.

Now as far as normal blogging, THAT I can do. First, I'm excited to have an end it sight for college. I see my graduation, and it is within reach. Second, I've been gaming a lot more and find it oddly comforting. I'll have to look into this further. I've met a few good friend on Live.

That's all for now.

I Miss FlashForward

I don't know if any of you watched FlashForward, but I did. It was on ABC in Fall 09/Spring 10. I don't think I've ever enjoyed a show so much. My normal shows are just great, but they are like comedies and dramas. FlashForward was a show kind of like Lost, but better. Unfortunately the Lost crowd did not get to experience FF, because it was canceled as soon as Lost was ended. Not even a chance. If you've ever seen more than one episode of FF you'll know what I'm talking about. This show was magic. I was just listening to Funeral by Band of Horses and yes, I'm tearing up. It was final song played on the final episode.

There have been attempts to bring back our beloved show, but we are fighting a giant, and we will not win. I hope another network picks it up. That is our best hope. But until then I will mourn this show. I've loved shows in the past, and they've ended, but I was not so bothered as I am with FlashForward. It is special.

We may not have an organized following, but the FlashForward fans are many.

Mexican Drug Cartels + You

This issue is somewhat close to me because I know many many people who smoke pot, and most likely you do too. But the reality of the situation is grave. If you smoke pot and don't know that your pot comes from a homegrown plant in the US, you are most likely supporting the murder of children in Mexico. I know, I sound like a evangelical extremist or something. But it's true. The Mexican drugs cartels sell to people in the US. They see a growing demand for pot so they are "upping the anty" and seeing that controlling the border would be beneficial for their trade. They know the college douchbags, and wanna be rastas will pay for their crop and so they are pushing for control over the border towns to more easily transport marijuana and other drugs (pot is 70% of their revenue). They kill people with no mercy. They kill children. They use the threat of killing children to take over ENTIRE towns. Just to sell to you Mr. Stoner.

Mexico wants us to legalize marijuana, but they don't even have it legalized. Granted, and obviously, their police are powerless to do anything about anything. Mexico is controlled by powerful men and drug cartels. There is no need for us to risk the stability of our economy and the health of our people (health meaning many people who don't know how the drug effects them could end in disaster) to help them, when we have a healthier alternative.

The easiest solution to this problem is for all who smoke pot to just stop. Just get over it. Pot is not physically addictive, so it would not be hard for users to just put it down for the sake of the safety of Mexican innocents. That is a better and easier solution. If you can't put down your pipe, unless you use it for medicinal purposes, you are just being selfish. I'm sorry, but if I knew something I was buying was causing the death of children and innocent people I wouldn't buy it anymore.

disclaimer for all you pot fanatics: I have nothing against the drug itself. In small amounts it can be relaxing. But it's foolish to compare it to alcohol. I don't smoke anymore, and I never really did. But every time I smoked I felt more out of control than when I drank. Pot really can be dangerous to some, and too much can really damage you (cheech n chong). We already have a lot of deaths because of alcohol, do you REALLY want to introduce another drug? You think legalizing pot is a good thing? Well do you also think doubling the amount of under-the-influence car crashes is a good thing?

Kava and lecithin

Today I made some kava in the way that I usually do (little bit of lemon-lime soda), but I added some egg yolk. The reason being egg yolk was the primary subject for the isolation of lecithin. So, since I don't have any lecithin granules I thought I'd try egg yolk, and get some extra protein in the process. The result was a horrid tasting concoction. To me, kava doesn't really taste that good, and using instant kava from nakamalathome.com adds a powdery texture to the already not-so-great taste. In spite of all that if you only use enough liquid to make it decent to shoot down your throat, you can avoid tasting it. Especially if you use a chaser. So yeah, it's like taking a shot. Except you won't get a hangover and you won't get drunk.

Anyway, did the addition of the egg yolk intensify the experience? Yeah. It did. I was beginning to think I was getting immune to kava. The last few experiences were very mild despite using Shaman Kava, which is very potent. Apparently lecithin does help in the extraction of kavaclones. But now that I think about it, since I'm using instant kava, have the kavaclones already been extracted? Maybe I just made a good batch.

Oh well, it was worth a try. I think maybe this summer I will finally make kava the right way. I want to get the full kava experience!

Kava Mixtures

I've recently discovered kava. It does exactly what it should in that it relieves my anxiety, and lets my mind think about other things besides my stress. Usually I am fixated on my problems, but kava is wonderful. Supposedly if you drink it for long periods of time you start to feel euphoric. Well I'm not there yet but I just wanted to write my favorite mixtures down somewhere.

I'm editing this in, but I want to mention I get my kava from nakamalathome.com
If you don't know what kava is or are interested in buying some, they have decent prices and free shipping on a lot of kinds of kava. I always buy instant kava because I'm a newbie. Maybe one day I'll learn how to make actual kava juice.

Kava and Sierra Mist/Sprite is great! The lemon-lime soda does not mask the flavor but takes away some of the bitterness.

Kava and Pepsi is pretty good. I think I may have used a bit much kava, but it was not bad at all.

Kava and hot chocolate is the best so far. But hot chocolate is not the best thing to be drinking all the time. Also, you have to wait for the hot chocolate to cool down because the kavaclones get killed or whatever.

Kava and Snapple Peach Tea SUCKS. DON'T FREAKIN DO IT. I wanted to puke but I didn't wanna waste my kava...

Also PS Kate looks good on Dancing with the Stars! Normally she looks awkward as hell, but tonight she looked very very pretty and she danced very nicely. Even though her scores sucked, it doesn't matter if the folks at home like her than she is good :)

I'm really just waiting for Castle . That's how I got started watching DWTS last season bc it's on before Castle! I bet that's how a lot of people came to watch it.

Anyway hopefully I can update this blog when I try new kava recipes. I'm a bit broke now because my dog was sick, but hopefully I won't run out before the end of the month.

Deja Vu

I think I might already have a blog on this website, but if it was over 5 years ago I can't remember.

Well here I am feeling like I'm in a movie. Writing a blog is much different than writing in a journal or commenting online. I feel differently. I feel more important. This is MY blog. And it's notable.

Well it's time for bed. This was quite an entry.
